Siera and Nick’s wedding was a blast for our photographers. The passion of the family and friends for the bride and groom and their special day was evident every step of the way. The family went out of their way to ensure that this, once-in-a-lifetime moment, was special and memorable. The love the newlyweds gave in return was stated in the size of the wedding party. Nick had 2 best-men and there were a total of 24 bridesmaids and groomsman. When an event is that festive, that large, and that full of love, our photographers just can’t stop taking pictures.

The day began with our team on two separate locations, the bride’s family home in Joppa, Maryland and the groomsmen, along the water in Fells Point. 13 women and their family getting ready for a day like this could be pure chaos. Once we arrived at the Cola residence, Siera rounded everyone up for gift giving and a toast with her bridesmaids. A note of unity, gratitude and joy that carried through out the day’s celebrations.

In the famed waterside Fells Point Neighborhood, the theme was the same. Not only were men gathered for one another, but the brotherly love was clear in the camaraderie and shined through in the pictures.

The Catholic ceremony was held at the Holy Rosary in the Paterson Park area of Baltimore. Siera graced the ornate church in her Mikaella wedding dress. Personal touches were added along the aisle with more flowers from Floral Expressions by Jennifer and framed family photos, along with inspiring quotes.

And onto The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley for cocktails and dinner by Rouge Catering. The grounds of The Grand Lodge lend itself to photography with rolling hills and sweeping vistas. The interior, of course, can accommodate, with ease, such a large celebration.
We’ve all been let down by catering in our lives. But Rouge, as usual, cannot be outdone. Their professional service maintains everyone’s needs with ease. For Siera and Nick the evening required filet mignon and crab cakes. You have a lot to live up to when serving a crab cake in Maryland, for Marylanders, and Rouge Catering had no trouble.Sachs-Photography-Cola-5

One of the things I love about Maryland are the cultural traditions, many of which (crab cakes) were included in this event. Being Italian and Greek brought other traditions to the wedding from color themes, to the chosen church and best, the dance. Money tossed in the air as the bride and groom joined hands with their revelers and performed an exciting Kalamatianós. It’s a tradition that kept the energy flowing throughout the night.

After toasts, introductions and dancing, all managed fantastically by Koko Brothers Entertainment, it was time for the cake. With their engraved silverware, Siera and Nick attended to the tradition of cutting the cake, a confectioner’s treat by Patisserie Poupon. A close and dear friend of the bride and groom couldn’t wait for table service and slid in to have cake fed to him by the bride and groom. It was just one more example of the newlyweds reciprocating love for all those around them. This is a wedding that will remain in my mind as the way the day should be had.

“Dave and I are a success story for online dating – we never would have met otherwise. We were in totally different circles, different jobs, lived in different parts of the city and have different hobbies. But we met, hit it off, and in all honesty, I could never have found a better partner, a more perfect person to spend the rest of my life with! { View full post }

Lauren & Patrick: Wedding Reception at The Four Seasons

After photographing for so many years at the many gorgeous and historic Baltimore locations,  Joe and I were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph Lauren & Patrick’s wedding reception at Baltimore’s newest venue, The Four Seasons.  First, we couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting than right on Baltimore’s Harbor, but also the spaces and views made for some wonderful opportunities to capture Lauren and Patrick on their day.  Katie Shannon of the Four Seasons did a great job in organizing the day and JJ Cummings, as always created some of the most beautiful florals.  Enjoy!!!

Cara & Peter at Baltimore's Peabody Library

What an amazing day!  We had fabulous weather, two great locations AND, the best bride and groom ever!  Cara and Peter started their wedding celebration meeting in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon.  Then, because the bride and groom are both Prosecutors (she works for the State and he the Fed), we headed over to  the Mitchell Courthouse by trolley with the entire wedding party.  What an amazing venue and what fun – we had the bridal party in the Juror’s box and Peter and Cara both had a chance at cross examination.  From there we headed back to the always beautiful Mount Vernon for a few more group photos and then into the Peaobody for ceremony and fabulous catering by Chefs Expressions and gorgeous flowers by Flowers & Fancies.  and the bride herself!!!  Photography by Anne & Joseph Sachs of Artful Weddings.  Enjoy!
